I love shooting in cool, historic places, and when I met Katie and Michael, we just knew that Old Town would be perfect for their engagement shoot. A D.C. wedding planner whom I’d done a wedding with previously, Lisa Harvard, recommended me to the couple. We got the chance to Skype together before we met, since the two live in San Diego where Michael is stationed with the U.S. Navy.
From our first conversation, I knew we’d be a great match, and I couldn’t wait to meet them in person.
Katie is originally from Maryland, and we decided that the charming, historic district of Old Town, with its cobblestone streets and beautiful 18th century townhouses, would be perfect for their engagement session. The couple’s wedding was planned for December at the Carnegie Institution for Science in D.C., and we were able to plan the engagement shoot to happen during one of their next trips back to the east coast.
It happened to coincide with the 4th of July weekend, so we were lucky to get some gorgeous summer light in Old Town.
This couple was so in love and happy, and I felt honored to capture their joy on camera. Between the classic brick backgrounds, to romantic cobblestone streets and well-kept shrubbery surrounding us, this Old Town, Virginia engagement session was a beautiful success.
